Dual Credit

Your senior year is almost here and it is time to start thinking about all those senior perks! One of those perks is dual enrollment with Blue Ridge Community and Technical College (BRCTC). Jefferson County Schools and BRCTC have partnered to offer seniors several options to take classes for college and high school credit. Plus, high school students receive a discounted tuition rate of $25 per credit hour! Whether you are planning to attend BRCTC, transfer to another College or University, or learn a trade, BRCTC has options available for everyone.

JumpStart is the most popular option for seniors interested in taking classes at the college level. The General Studies JumpStart program offers students the opportunity to take courses in English, Math, science and history for the 2021-2022 school year.

If a full-time schedule isn’t for you, consider the Scholars program. Jefferson County Scholars allows students to begin a college transcript by earning general education courses. Students have the option to take coursework after school and online to work around your busy schedule. In addition, English 101 and 102 courses are offered at Jefferson and Washington High School as part of a daily class period.

Learn more about your options as a high school senior by attending an upcoming virtual information session designed for juniors in Jefferson County. Sessions are available for each school; however, you are welcome to join any date that fits your schedule. Information sessions are:

· Jefferson High School: January 12th @ 5pm
