JCS Launches new Help Desk for Families

JCS has launched a live Help Desk hotline. Skilled technicians are standing by to help students and caregivers with questions about software like Google Classroom and to support hardware concerns on any device issued by Jefferson County Schools.

Families can call (304) 728-9054 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Mondays and Fridays and from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Wednesdays. Those hours will likely expand as we get a better idea of how the service will be used.

Google Classroom Tip to Students/Parents

  1. If a student has completed an assignment AFTER the due date, the student needs to message their teacher in Livegrades or Outlook, whichever the teacher prefers, about that assignment with the class period so that the teacher can go back and fix the grade.  Teachers do not get notified by Google Classroom of a late assignment as it comes in.
  2. This short video shows students how to make a copy of a teacher's Google Doc in order to WRITE ON IT as an assignment if there is no student copy already created.  It shows how to easily ADD IT from their Google Drive in the "View the Assignment" box. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iv-yFR056wo.

Graduate Yearbook and JVA School Picture Distribution

If you were unable to make the drive-thru distribution of school picture orders and proofs for JVA students who had their picture taken in October and 2020 graduate yearbooks, please contact Contact Yearbook Advisor Mrs. Reeder dreeder@k12.wv.us if you'd like to make alternate arrangements.

School Messenger archive

Mrs. FitzGerald, JHS principal, typically sends a weekly message through the automated School Messenger system. Missed a School Messenger call? Prefer to read rather than listen? The transcript of the weekly School Messenger call is sent via LiveGrades, or follow the archive link under Cougar Links above. If you are not receiving calls, please contact the school office to update your contact information.
