Rocket Contest

The JHS Science Club and the JROTC program have joined together to compete in the 2017 Team America Rocketry Challenge ("TARC").

TARC is the world's largest student rocket contest, where more than 5,000 students from across the nation compete in an annual model rocket engineering design/build/flight contest.

Our team will ultimately consist of up to 10 students who will design, build, and fly rockets while in the presence of the local TARC representative. The TARC official evaluate our rocket's official flight data, including altitude, elapsed time, and whether or not the payload or raw eggs survived the trip. Then the representative will submit that information to the national organization to determine our qualification for the national contest.

The top 100 teams will travel to rural Virginia to launch rockets and then to Washington, D.C. to celebrate and take home a share of more than $100,000 in cash and scholarships.

As if that's not enough, the overall winning team will travel to Europe to compete in the International Rocketry Challenge taking place at the 2017 Paris Air Show.
